01 — Graphene Coating

What is a graphene coating?

A graphene coating is a coating sealant that contains graphene nanoparticles. NEOWAX No. 5 is just such a nano graphene primer coating: it forms a hard, durable and highly water-repellent base layer on the clear coat.

What makes the NEOWAX system special: the coating wax No. 2 is applied on top of the cured primer No. 5. Primer and wax form a reactive bond – No. 5 provides the hardness and durability, No. 2 the deep gloss and an additional protective layer that absorbs everyday wear and tear.

02 — Graphene Coating

The decisive advantage: renew it instead of resealing

Conventional sealants lose their effect over time – and then it’s back to square one. With the graphene system, you simply refresh the top layer with NEOWAX No. 2. The topping restores gloss and beading and protects the primer underneath. This lets you extend the protection again and again without having to repeat the laborious paint preparation.

  • 12+ months of base protection from the nano graphene primer No. 5.
  • High-definition gloss: the depth of a wax with the clarity of a coating.
  • Extreme resistance to UV, bird droppings, insects and road salt.
  • Refreshable with No. 2 – after heavy soiling or at regular intervals.

03 — Graphene Coating

Graphene coating or ceramic coating?

Both systems belong to the coating class. The NEOWAX No. 6 ceramic coating is the choice for maximum static durability (18–36 months) on the “install & forget” principle. The graphene system is the choice for perfectionists who want maximum gloss and would rather refresh their protection regularly than replace it completely at some point.

How primer and wax work together in detail is explained in our guide Synergistic Paint Protection: No. 5 and No. 2.

08 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions about graphene coating

Both are coatings. The NEOWAX No. 6 ceramic coating focuses on maximum static durability of 18–36 months. The graphene system No. 5 + No. 2 lasts 12+ months, offers high-definition gloss and can be refreshed again and again with No. 2.

The NEOWAX No. 5 primer lasts 12+ months. Refreshing it regularly with the coating wax No. 2 significantly extends the durability of the overall system.

For optimal gloss and protection, we recommend refreshing it every few weeks or after intensive washes or heavy soiling. It’s quick – the wax is sprayed on, spread and buffed off.

Guide prices for the graphene system No. 5 + No. 2 are €250–500 net, plus any polishing that may be needed. See your individual price estimate in our free wizard.

The No. 5 primer should cure dry for at least 12, ideally 24 hours. Only then is No. 2 applied. Your partner factors in this time when scheduling your appointment.

It is the name NEOWAX uses for No. 5: a coating sealant containing nanoparticles of graphene, a carbon material, that forms a hard, durable and highly water-repellent base layer on the clear coat. Topped with the coating wax No. 2, it becomes the renewable graphene system.
