01 — Car Wax

What does car wax do?

Car wax is the classic form of paint protection: a thin layer of wax sits on the clear coat, visually fills the finest imperfections and makes water bead off. The paint looks deeper and richer and feels smooth – and dirt, rain and UV radiation have less impact on it.

Compared with a ceramic coating, wax is quicker to apply, more forgiving to use and cheaper per application. In return, it lasts for a shorter time and should be renewed regularly.

02 — Car Wax

NEOWAX No. 1: carnauba wax for the ultimate wet look

NEOWAX No. 1 is our flagship: originally conceived in 2003 and continuously refined since 2016. Its hybrid formula combines 50% premium T1 carnauba wax from Brazil with German montan wax, English beeswax and SiO₂.

The result is a warm, extremely deep wet look with a luxurious feel to the paint – ideal for show cars, classic cars and seasonal vehicles whose owners enjoy waxing as a ritual. Durability: 3–6 months with pH-neutral washing.

03 — Car Wax

NEOWAX No. 2: coating wax for everyday driving

NEOWAX No. 2 combines the easy application of a wax with the durability of a coating. It withstands cleaners in the pH 2–13 range, reliably protects against road salt and insect residue, and delivers a strong easy-to-clean effect.

With 6+ months of durability that you can extend as often as you like by topping up, No. 2 is our best value for money for high-mileage drivers and cars parked on the street. Combined with the graphene primer No. 5, it becomes the graphene coating system.

04 — Car Wax

Carnauba or coating wax – which wax is right for you?

  • You love gloss and enjoy maintaining your car yourself? → No. 1 carnauba for maximum depth.
  • Your car is parked outside and driven every day? → No. 2 coating wax for tough everyday protection.
  • You want the look of wax with the durability of a coating? → No. 5 + No. 2 as a graphene system.
  • You want to invest once and enjoy peace of mind? → Ceramic coating No. 6.

05 — Car Wax

Why have your car waxed by a professional?

Wax is only as good as the paint underneath. A certified NEOWAX partner washes and decontaminates the car, polishes out swirl marks if needed and applies the wax in an ultra-thin, even layer. That way, the protection lasts longer and the gloss looks far more intense than after a quick hand application.

Prefer to wax your car yourself? The original products are available in the NEOWAX Shop – you’ll find application tips in our guide The Art of Car Wax Care.

10 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions about car wax

The carnauba hybrid wax NEOWAX No. 1 lasts 3–6 months; the coating wax NEOWAX No. 2 lasts over 6 months and can be refreshed at any time. Frequent washing with aggressive cleaners shortens its durability.

With carnauba wax, around two to four times a year, ideally before winter and in spring. With coating wax, once or twice a year plus the occasional top-up is usually enough.

Carnauba delivers the warmest, deepest gloss; synthetic coating wax offers greater resistance to chemicals and road salt. For enthusiast cars we recommend No. 1, for daily drivers No. 2.

Guide prices are €50–100 net for NEOWAX No. 1 and €100–200 net for No. 2, plus any polishing that may be needed. See your individual price estimate in our free wizard.

Yes, if the paint shows swirl marks, holograms or haze. Wax can visually mask fine scratches to some extent, but it can’t remove them. For the best result, the paint is cleaned, decontaminated and, where necessary, polished beforehand.

Yes – especially before winter. A fresh layer of wax protects against road salt and slush. For the cold season, we recommend the particularly durable coating wax No. 2.

Yes, NEOWAX No. 1 and No. 2 are also designed for ambitious DIY enthusiasts and are available in the NEOWAX Shop. If you’d rather leave polishing and preparation to a professional, you’ll find certified partners on detailing.autos.
